NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Negotiations between the Ministry of Transport and The Bahamas Taxi Cub Union continuing as taxi drivers are still seeking a fare increase. Our Megan Shepherd has more from the union president.

Taxi drivers say it is long overdue and as fuel prices continue to rise, they say they too need to earn a livable wage. President of The Bahamas Taxi Cab Union, Wesley Ferguson, says negotiations with the minister continue.

He says the union strategically waited for the summer months to negotiate the increase.

The transport minister recently announced she will meet with the Ministry of Finance to design a temporary relief package. Ferguson says they are not interested in temporary.
