NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Over 20 new EMTs and advanced EMT’s graduated from the Public Health Authority Academy this week, many of whom are from and returning to our Family Islands.

Health Minister, Dr. Michael Darville, says increasing the amount of first responders in our country is key to improving healthcare in the Family Islands.

Darville says the benefits extend beyond emergency situations.

Emts may be called to collaborate with local nurses on family islands to perform visits which prevent the need for some airlifts.
