NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Days after the Police Staff Association hit out at a change in insurance policy for security officers, National Security Minister Wayne Munroe is weighing in, seeking to justify the change.

Munroe says for officers already on the force, the insurance plan remains the same.

Last week Police Staff Association Executive Chairman Ricardo Walkes said instead of adding, the government is seeking to take more away from officers even after pleading for more on the insurance policy for officers.

The new policy allows for single-family coverage.

The addition of other family members will require additional payment.

The new policy he says will only apply to new officers after July 1st.
