NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 16-year-old student of Lyford Cay International School is the new Teen Universe Bahamas. Penelope Lightbourne was recently crowned and will represent The Bahamas at the international pageant in Madrid, Spain beginning February 22, 2023.

Oswald Ellis, Teen Universe Bahamas Director, says: “Penelope is a gem and a rare find, as it is almost an impossible task to find a young lady that is focused and goal oriented, respectful and eager to learn new things and lend her support when needed.”

Pageant officials say after months of searching and the two recent national teen pageants, the directors agreed Lightbourne would be the best candidate to wear the Teen Universe Bahamas crown.

Lightbourne is a former resident of Grand Bahama, who volunteered with Hands for Hunger World Kitchen to provide daily meals to residents affected and displaced by hurricane Dorian. The new queen has also partnered with Dunkin’ Donuts to raise funds for therapy for autistic children, as an autism awareness activist.

She is a part time model, member of the school’s track club and a social media influencer with more than 31,000 followers on TikTok.
