NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The NFL Flag Football Family Fun Day and Talent Showcase went down this weekend at the Roscow Davies Soccer Stadium.

The program, which was started in 1994,  aims to teach young players the basics of football while developing their character.

The Bahamas’ edition is the first of its kind in the Caribbean.

Athletes from ages six to adulthood got to participate in drills and practice their skills in live fire competition.

The day culminated in an adult exhibition game that resulted in a win for a Bahamian team against a Miami Dolphins flag squad in a 21-20 thriller.

Jonquel Jones is the Grand Bahama-born forward for the New York Liberty.

Last week her team fell in the finals to the Las Vegas Aces, making it her second straight finals series loss to the Aces.

Despite coming off her first year with a new team that torched the league, finishing with a 32-8 record she’s still happy about her season.
