NASSAU, BAHAMAS – National Junkanoo Committee Chairman Andrew Pinder had a candid conversation with me earlier this week on preparation for the upcoming Junkanoo parades explaining that they are as “ready as they can be.”

Pinder adds everyone should ensure they download the myALIV events app to ensure a smooth process when accessing their seats and there’ll be enhanced experiences this year…

The NJC chairman told me all about how they’re incentivising the parade for Junkanooers and patrons.

“For the first time over in the government parking lot we have a VIP session set up,”he said.

“When we did it, it sold right out so the VIP lounge is going to be setup over there and you’ve also been hearing about the fanfare award so down in the whole we have incentivized the groups full monetary prize to organize themselves and introduce their fanfare for people to hear.”

And for the new years day parade, pinder shareD this….

(“its all about money, its all about having the funds and when we are able; the goverment cant do it alone; the sponsors are few but when the parade gets the experieNce so great that these 8,000 seats aren’t going to be enough then you’re going to have to think about literally expanding it”)

But has the parade outgrown bay street? I put that question to pinder…

(“i would say so, i would honestly say so; so many people really want to see junkanoo; persons don’t want the hassle of coming out here; we have 8000 seats in this arena but to expand it; i don’t have the answer to it; this has been discussion for years and years”)
