NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Flag Football League has made a big push in recent years of growing the game. On Friday, some high school students got in on the action.

Windsor High football coach Katie Roach, is just one of several coaches who led their teams in Saturday’s Flag Football Championships.

Dozens of boys and girls turned out to compete in the one-day coed tournament.

Program Director, Jayson Clarke, says he elated about the tournament’s growth, now in it’s second year.

For the first time, public schools also competed in the tournament. Both CV Bethel and Doris Johnson high schools getting in on the action. Their coaches say the experience is valuable.

Tough Night For Bahamians In The NBA Playoffs

Saturday was a tough night for Bahamians in the NBA playoffs. Both Buddy Hield and Eric Gordon went scoreless as their teams lost.

Hield came off the bench to play 11 minutes, going 0-2 as his Sixers lost 104-111 to the New York Knicks.

Tyrese Maxey had 33 points to lead Philly and the Villanova boys, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart had 22 points apiece for the Knicks.

On the western side of things, Eric gordon went 0-5 in 21 minutes off the bench as his Phoenix Suns lost 95-120 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kevin Durant led the Suns with 31 points and 7 rebounds and it was a coming-out party for young phenom Anthony Edwards of the Wolves, who had 33 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists.

Hield and the Knicks will take the floor again on Monday. Gordon and the Suns resume their series on Tuesday.
