NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former prime minister and former Free National Movement (FNM) leader Dr. Hubert Minnis now confirming he will run as an independent candidate in the upcoming general election – following his failed bid to retain the party’s leadership after two convention votes.

On Wednesday, Pintard responds to Dr. Minnis’ decision to contest the Killarney seat against the party’s standard bearer, Michela Barnett-Ellis.

Pintard also pushes back against criticism from those who view the ratification of political newcomer Rick Fox in Garden Hills as a slight to long-serving party members, and addressing concerns from the former Garden Hills Association and others opposed to Fox’s ratification.

Fox recently confirmed on Our TV’s On The Record with host Jerome Sawyer that he met with both major political parties before accepting the FNM nomination.

Prime Minister Philip Davis recently confirms that meeting with Fox, but Pintard says the prime minister should focus on more pressing issues.
