The website breaks down the benefits of FOIA, its intended use, and its ongoing status, some eight years after it was passed in 2017. Here’s how it works.

According to the Act, its objectives include promoting governmental accountability, ensuring transparency, and encouraging public participation in national decision-making.

Bethel notes that freedom of information is a hallmark of good governance across the world.

So, why has The Bahamas not yet enacted FOIA nearly a decade later?
And with another budget debate on the horizon, she says she remains hopeful.
