Over 2K Migrants Repatriated This Year

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Department of Immigration has repatriated 2,526 irregular migrants so far this year, according to Immigration Minister Keith Bell.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Department of Immigration has repatriated 2,526 irregular migrants so far this year.

The figures coming from Immigration Minister Keith Bell as he contributed to the 2023/2024 Budget Debate.

Bell says around $1.9 million dollars was spent on repatriations in 2022.

If these trends continue, he says the department will have to seek cabinet approval for contingency funds.

He says trends reveal significant boat loads of irregular migrants from various countries outside of Haiti and Cuba.
