NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Court of Appeal has refused to revisit its 2018 decision to affirm the murder and armed robbery convictions of Craig Johnson.

He sought a second chance appeal for the 2013 murder of American sailor Kyle Bruner.

Johnson allegedly shot and killed Bruner during an armed robbery on East Bay Street.

Johnson was tried alongside Anton Bastian and Marcellus Williams. Their convictions have since been set aside on the basis that they didn’t know that Johnson had a gun.

Defense lawyer Geoffrey Farquharson argued that Johnson was entitled to be acquitted too because his co-accused had been set free.

But the Court didn’t agree, meaning that Johnson will have to serve his 45-year sentence.

The Court suggested that Johnson take his appeal to the Privy Council, the country’s final court.
