NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Many of you may have plans this weekend to spend some time in our beautiful waters, maybe a boat trip or a simple family beach day.

Well, police are reminding you to take extra care and caution while enjoying water activities. These proactive steps could make the difference in saving the lives of your loved ones, or even, your own.

Police are issuing strong words of caution this weekend for those of you that may participate in water activities, specifically swimming.

This comes after a several suspected drownings last weekend.

A 35-year old female from the U.S. was found unresponsive at a dock by officers in Abaco.

The following day, police on Andros discovered the body of a man on a beach shoreline in North Andros.

These incidents raising alarms for police. Press Liason, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings, says stressing the importance of exercising caution, even if it is just a simple beach trip.

Last weekend, a 2-year-old boy also allegedly drowned in Grand Bahama. The latest in a number of suspected child drownings this year.

Drowning incidents are not the only thing concerning police. Last weekend also saw two boating accidents.

One that occured off of Rose Island, causing serious injuries to four people, and another in Eleuthera where three adults were hurt.

Skippings also had this word of caution for boat operators saying it’s important to put the necessary levels of precautions in place.
