NEW YORK CITY, USA – Jonquel Jones showed the Washington Mystics why she won MVP in 2021, scoring 20 points on 7 of 12 shooting and grabbing 12 rebounds and the Liberty destroyed the Mystics to win game 1 of the first round of the WNBA playoffs, 90-75.

Jonquel Jones Dominates The Mystics To Win Game 1

NEW YORK CITY, USA – Jonquel Jones showed the Washington Mystics why she won MVP in 2021, scoring 20 points on 7 of 12 shooting and grabbing 12 rebounds and the Liberty destroyed the Mystics to win game 1 of the first round of the WNBA playoffs, 90-75. 

JJ also provided tenacious defense, blocking 2 shots and swiping one steal while facilitating the offense to the tune of 4 assists. 



The Mystics played the Liberty close in the first half, ending the 2nd quarter only down four points, scoring 42 to the Liberty’s 46. The heavily-favored Liberty hit the gas in the 2nd half, however, outscoring the Mystics 44-33 in the second half. 

Sharpshooter Sabrina Ionescu led the Liberty with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Betnija Laney had 19 points and 8 rebounds.

Myesha Hynes-Allen led the Mystics with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Brittney Sykes added 16 points. 

The Liberty will have a chance to close it out in game two on Tuesday.
