GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Progressive Liberal Party’s nomination process began at it’s Eight Mile Rock headquarters with praise and worship and prayer.

The crowd led by party leader and Prime Minister Philip Davis alongside the PLP’s candidate Kingsley Smith marched to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church to be nominated.

The sea of PLP supporters danced, cheered, and sang with the expectation of a victory.

But as the PLP made it’s way to the church, the FNM made it’s way back to its headquarters.

That ended in both parties crossing paths at the same time.

Eventually, the group made it to the church where Smith made his nomination official.

He emerged waving his receipt.

Prime Minister Philip Davis telling reporters smith embodies the spirit and resilience of Grand Bahama and Bimini.

With the PLP campaigning on Smith having a seat around the decision-making table if elected, we asked the prime minister if Smith could fill the cabinet seat left vacant by the late Obie Wilchcombe.
