NASSAU, BAHAMAS – “The Bahamian people have grown understandably impatient,” according to Prime Minister Philip Davis, who says the need to tackle our immigration problems is urgent.

Delivering a national address on security and migration concerns in the country, Prime Minister Davis says he fully understands “the frustrations felt throughout our islands,” acknowledging that successive administrations could have done more to enforce [immigration] laws, eliminate shantytowns or build international coalitions to address the issue.

Davis used the opportunity to outline Operation Secure, a security collaboration between the Royal Bahamas Police and Defence Forces, as well as the Department of Immigration, to disrupt the flow of migrants to the country, identify and repatriate those who are here illegally.

The full details of the plan are now posted on the Office of the Prime Minister’s website, where PM Davis encourages Bahamians to go and learn the laws and the facts related to security and migration in the country.
