NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prime Minister Philip Davis has moved a resolution in the House of Assembly declaring May 10th as National HMBS Flamingo Remembrance Day.

The Flamingo Incident, also known as the Cuban Incident, the Cay Santo Domingo Incident, or the Sinking of HMBS Flamingo, occurred on May 10, 1980, just under six weeks of the Royal Bahamas Defense Force‟s official establishment.

The four marines: Able Seaman Fenrick Sturrup, Marine Seaman Austin Rudolph Smith, Marine Seaman David Allison Tucker and Marine Seaman Edward Arnold Williams lost their lives.
