NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police commissioner Clayton Fernander praised what he’s calling the best Junkanoo parade in history.

The top cop made the declaration following a walkthrough of the Boxing Day parade with other senior police officers.

Fernander added The Royal Bahamas Defence Force also partnered with police this year to ensure the parade was properly manned. 

He added cctv was also up and running.

The police did report one incident that occurred shortly after 1am.

That’s when an officer stationed at the intersection of nassau and west bay streets, was injured after a black Japanese vehicle attempted to breach the barricade.

The officer was taken to hospital where he was treated and discharged.

Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene.
