NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A volunteer police constable is facing illegal gun possession charges.

Prosecutors say Reserve Constable Macquez Porter was found with a .40 Glock pistol and a 9mm pistol on April 22.

Porter, who joined the reservist program in 2023, denied charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of a firearm component at his arraignment before Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley.

His bail was set at $5,000. Porter is expected back in court on July 15 for the start of his trial.
