NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Some big names participating in the BAAA’s National Championships this weekend at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium. Our Sasha Lightbourne has the details from night one where some of our premiere athletes shined, tonight in sports.

Once the evening session got underway at the BAAA’s National Championships, the crowd was in for a treat.

Straight out the gate during the women’s 100m hurdles Devynne Charlton did not disappoint, setting a new national record of 12.60 seconds.

We also caught up with Anthonique Strachan. She ran a 100m earlier in the evening, but a technical glitch would cause runners to run that race again.

Strachan came back and won the 100m race just before10pm. Here’s how she feels about running at home and the road ahead.

Closing out the evening was none other than 400m olympic champions Shaunae Miller-Uibo And Steven Gardiner.

They both won their respective races – Shaunae in 52.62 and Steven in 45.22.

The championships continue this evening at the stadium with the 200m finals expected to heat up the track. The meet will end on Sunday.
