NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This latest vexing issues add to what seems to be a growing list of children who have fallen prey to sex predators in recent months and the national security minister is speaking out.

Wayne Munroe making the revelation Wednesday while expressing concern on the sidelines of the Inter-Ministerial Cyber Security workshop.

He says he received the report this past weekend, adding the matter is troubling as children need safe places to seek refuge.

The national security minister says there needs to be a more holistic approach to education.

He highlighted the recently passed Protection Against Violence Bill which criminalizes financial abuse.

It came just a few days before police reported the alleged sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl in New Providence.

Earlier this month, the Bahamas Christian Council condemned what they say seems to be a rape culture developing in The Bahamas after a nine-year-old girl was abducted and sexually assaulted.

The national security minister says the police force is working towards a housing unit for children who are victims of sexual assaults.

He sent this stern warning to anyone considering committing crimes like these.
