NASSAU, BAHAMAS – This year’s Jazz in the Gardens Festival will be held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, and this weekend, the Our News team will be there to cover it all.

With a lineup like Doechii, Toni Braxton, Coco Jones, Tye Tribbett, Ja Rule, Xscape, and more, we are excited to bring you all the highlights.

Ahead of the festival, I spoke with CEO of G-Squared Events & The Black Promoters Collective, Gary Guidry, who is the producer for the popular event.

The NAACP Trailblazer Award winner tells us the festival is always one to remember.

“It’s about family, it’s about tradition, you know, grandmother, granddaughter, father, son, and grandfather. It’s about the backyard experience of having a home party.”

Last year, our very own Sweet Emily performed at the festival. This year, reggae superstar Beenie Man will take the stage.

Gary says the inclusion of Caribbean artists shows the event is rooted in ancestral heritage.

“You’re talking about Miami, you’re talking about South Florida, you’re talking about a culture that’s ingrained in that part of the country. How can we not include our Afro-Caribbean, you know, people who shaped our culture?”

Sunday’s headliner is R&B megagroup New Edition, and on Saturday night, headliner Lauryn Hill will lead a diaspora set, which features artists Wyclef Jean, Busta Rhymes, YG Marley, and others.

Emphasizing the fact that the Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival is more than a show but a cultural experience.
