Prosecutors Asks for 60-Year Sentence For Convicted Killer

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Supreme Court judge is now deliberating on how long a 55-year-old convicted killer should spend in prison.

Franklyn Edgecombe was unanimously convicted of the December 11, 2018, murder of Rico Archer on September 8.

At a sentencing hearing today, Prosecutor Tamika Roberts argued that Edgecombe who’s been in and out of prison since 1983 posed an ongoing threat to the community.

She’s asking Justice Franklyn Williams KC to consider a sentence in the range of 45 to 60 years.

On the other hand, public defender Marianna Cadet says that a 30 to 35 year-sentence was more appropriate.

Edgecombe will learn his fate on January 29, 2024.
