R.E.A.C.H Bahamas Summer Camp: “They’re No Less Different Than Anyone Else”

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – There are countless summer camps taking place across the country, but one program in The Bahamas is offering a unique experience for students on the autism spectrum.

R.E.A.C.H. Bahamas, a non-profit, volunteer-based advocacy and support organization in The Bahamas, provides free resources, education, and social programs, including specialized summer camps for families and individuals affected by autism spectrum disorders.

The camp this year was made up of volunteers and was free of charge to the campers.

One of the volunteers, Dr. Dashawn Saunders, tells our Joshua Williams that it has helped kids to learn skills outside of the classroom.

The joy on the campers faces was evident, as many of them ran up to him wanting to be on camera, dressed in their masks and super hero costumes.

One camper even grabbed the mic and wanted to sing a song.

Then there’s camper Keshon Gardner who had no trouble giving us a run down of what goes on every day.
