NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 27-year-old Royal Bahamas Defence Force marine accused of sexually abusing a minor was granted bail on Tuesday.

Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez set bail at $9,900 for Vann Miller, who is charged with five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.

Miller was remanded to prison last Monday following his initial appearance before a magistrate.

He is accused of beginning a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl in September 2021 that continued until March 9, 2023, when the case came to the attention of the authorities.

The girl involved is now 13, however, she could not consent to sex with Miller since she is under 16.
