NASSAU, BAHAMAS – If you have ever dialed 919, it’s more than likely that your call was answered in a control room, a part of the team’s work here at the Real Time Crime Center at police headquarters.

Chief Superintendent Charmaine Leadon is responsible for the day-to-day operations.

Calls are color-coded based on importance and emergency level, making work efficient.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Freya Emmanuel is one of those charged with taking these calls. She says officers have learned the importance of keeping the mental health of themselves and the callers first.

The center, is also used to monitor the operations of officers, tracking various units on the road, including the option of live streaming body cams.

The responsibility is something the department takes seriously.
