NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Red Cross Fair, eagerly awaited by Nassau residents each year, faced stiff competition from the Exuma Regatta, which enticed many with its weekend festivities.

Despite the challenge, Bahamas Red Cross President Edison Sumner expressed gratitude for the consistent support the organization receives for the fair and its other initiatives.

President Sumner emphasized that supporting events like the Red Cross Fair is an investment in humanity, highlighting the importance of community backing.

Among the attendees were Governor General Cynthia Pratt, who officially opened the fair at 3pm, and Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander, who also joined in the celebrations.

Fernander stressed the significance of supporting the Red Cross due to its deep-rooted connections within the community.

The police chief, reflecting on his decision to prioritize the Red Cross Fair over the Exuma Regatta, expressed his commitment to building a better nation.

The Bahamas Red Cross, renowned for its mobilization during natural disasters, extends its mission beyond crisis response, serving as a vital support system for communities nationwide. It offers assistance to the elderly and less fortunate residents who rely on its daily aid.

Sumner noted that while the organization’s programs come with a significant cost, support doesn’t necessarily have to be financial. He reiterated that backing events like the Red Cross fair is an investment in humanity.
