NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On Wednesday evening the Free National Movement ratified seventeen candidates for the upcoming general election, following this announcement we took to the streets to ask the public what are their thoughts.

“I don’t really track politics as well so I don’t have a clear and concise opinion on what it is,” one resident said.

A candid declaration made by one resident, a day after the FNM launched its first slate of candidates.

FNM leader Michael Pintard previously promised his administration would deliver a new cadre of leaders.

During last night’s launch, there were several candidates who were familiar faces to frontline politics, former MP’s who served in the last Minnis administration.

Here’s what residents had to say about those prospects:

“…I would say that most of the times throughout the year when it’s not [the] political season you really don’t see anybody,” one resident said.

“What are you going to do, put makeup on those fellas? …I’m being honest what are they going to do that they ain’t do… [through out] the years what are they going to do they get a special make up now?,” another resident said.

The FNM said the unveiling of its first 17 candidates marks the beginning of a national campaign.
