NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Operations at the Passport Office appeared to go on as usual as residents stood under a tent waiting in line before this morning’s heavy rainfall.

Many were unaware of the new protocol change which will affect people whose father is a citizen of The Bahamas and his name appears on the applicant’s birth certificate.

Yvette John was one of several applicants waiting to be served. John says she personally knows people who will benefit.

While she doesn’t fall into this category, Martha Ferguson is in agreement,  adding she believes anyone who is a productive citizen should be treated equally.

Rosiane Richmond agrees with the move as well but shared this concern.

Krystal Cleare however, disagreed. She says it promotes childbirth out of wedlock.
