NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Residents are giving mixed reactions to Prime Minister Philip Davis’ assessment of Free National Movement leader Michael Pintard and his ability to lead the country.

The nation’s leader recently questioned Pintard’s qualifications, saying he has no real experience.

Our News took to the streets to find out how residents feel about the prime minister’s comments, and whether or not they feel Pintard would be fit to lead the country.

As the next General Election seems to be on the horizon, both the Progressive Liberal Party and Free National Movement are heating up their campaigns.

Both are taking shots at each other.

Over the weekend, Prime Minister Davis said opposition leader, Michael Pintard, was unprepared to lead The Bahamas based on his professional and life experiences.

These residents agree.

Phillip – A Resident

“Nah he ain’t ready for it. I don’t think bout me personally Pintard don’t shave the experience to say to actually run it he just wan get there and say he’s prime minister but nah.”

Pintard fired back at Davis, warning Bahamians not to be distracted by the prime minister’s comments describing them as “stooping to a new low” by the nation’s leader, urging residents to focus on the national issues at hand.

However, the prime minister questioned if Pintard ever had a “real job”, praising his own career as an attorney.

But for this resident, that doesn’t matter.

He believes Pintard is fit to lead.

Michael – A Resident

“The way how he conduct himself because this man who’s the leader now he’s not a real leader the way he pose to be. He can’t talk he’s not concrete he’s not looking out for the Bahamain he giving all the foreigners the job.”

This resident says despite Davis’ view of Pintard, it wouldn’t change the outcome.

He thinks time is up for the Davis administration.

Resident

“Well he saying that because he feel like he’s gonna win the government and it’s not gonna happen again”

Another resident, Garfield Davis says Bahamians will simply have to deal with whoever is the next government.

Garfield Davis – Resident

“Sometimes you talk a little bad about one another but that’s apart of the game. Nobody needs to feel all upset get angry and start no war with one another, just go to the polls and vote.”
