Returning Residents To Normalcy A Priority After Fires

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Social Services Minister and Member of Parliament for West End and Bimini Obie Whilchcombe providing an update on those residents impacted by the two fires recently.

He says that the ministry is taking active steps such as formulating reports to repair those homes and return residents to some sense of normalcy.

Wilchcombe further explained that the government is reaching out to insurance companies to assist Bahamians on Family Islands with getting insurance.

Whilchombe also commenting on the issue of a lack of fire trucks and the maintenance of those on the Family Islands.

He says that resources such as firetrucks and ambulances are the responsibility of local government.
