SOUTH KOREA – Samsung is making a big swing in the foldable phone market, unveiling its first multi-folding smartphone – the Galaxy Z Trifold.

The device revealed on December 2nd unfolds into a ten inch display using three panels, about 25 percent larger than the current Z Fold7.

It’s priced at ₩3.59M, which is about $2,440.

Samsung Executive Alex Lim tells Reuters the trifold could be a catalyst for more explosive growth in the foldable segment, even as analysts warn the high price means the phones will stay niche for now.

The trifold goes on sale in South Korea December 12th, with rollouts this year in China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the U.A.E.

A U.S. launch expected early next year.

The Z Trifold carries Samsung’s largest flagship battery, hitting 50% charge in just 30 minutes.
