NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The gender-based violence bill should be passed in both the House of Assembly and Senate before August, according to Senate President Lashell Adderley.

Gender based violence and marital rape are expected to be discussed during the 13th Women’s Affairs Ministers meeting this summer.

Adderley hopes the bill surrounding these issues is passed sooner rather than later, as she lends her support to the whole issue of crimes against women. She says more needs to be done in the wake of a reported uptick in sexual crimes last year.
