Senators Weigh In On Mental Health Bill

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Senators debating the Mental Health Bill, 2022 earlier this week. The bill seeks to replace the Mental Health Act of 1969.

According to a report published by the United Nations in June of this year, 1 billion people worldwide suffer from mental illness. Senator Randy Rolle, says he is in favor of this bill, calling it long overdue.

When it comes to treating people with mental illness, he is advocating to change the name of the country’s premier treatment center from Sandilands Rehabilitation Center to the Wellness Rehabilitation Center.

Senator Darren Henfield added that more has to be done in response to mental illness, by both the government and everyday citizens.
