NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A serial sex offender sentenced to three years in prison for indecently assaulting an elderly woman now wants an appeal court to overturn his conviction.

Sidney Cooper, who was 48 at the time, was convicted of assaulting the 68-year-old woman on January 25th, 2025, in Coconut Grove.

The court heard that Cooper approached the woman, made sexual advances toward her and even offered her money after she turned him down.

He then followed her into a store on Crooked Island Street, where he rubbed against her.

Cooper admitted what he did but tried to justify it by blaming her attire.

Cooper is a registered sex offender with a history of assaults against women and children going back some 20 years.

His previous convictions also include sexually assaulting a police officer in court.
