Several Up for National Sports Awards

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Nominations coming in for sports month for the National Sports Awards scheduled for November 4th at 6:30 p.m.

Up for national team of the year are this year’s CARIFTA swim team who are the five time consecutive champions, the CARIFTA track and field team, the men’s national basketball team, men’s national soccer team, the Goodwill swim team and the Special Olympics team.

Up for community sports award are the Buddy Hield Foundation, the iIsland Luck Cares foundation, the Jazz Chisholm Foundation, One Eleuthera Foundation and Peace on the Streets organization.

Nominees for the Prime Minister Award for National Pride have also been announced. They are Anna Camille Vlasov, Buddy Hield, Devynne Charlton, Jazz Chisolm, Jonquel Jones, Justin Roberts, Marvyn Rolle and Terrion Kemp.

Other categories have not been revealed but we expect Male Senior Athlete of the Year as well as Female Senior Athlete of the Year to be hotly contested.

Pan Am

Bahamians will take the track in Santiago in the coming days.

Kendrick Thompson and Ken Mullings, two of the finest decathletes our nation has ever produced will kick things off with their decathlon events on Monday and Tuesday.

Sprinter Samson Colebrooke will also compete in the 100m over those two days.

High jumper Donald Thomas and Javelin Thrower Rhema Otabor are also scheduled to compete as well, but that will be later in the week.
