NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prosecutors have discontinued the criminal case against the former administrator of the Elizabeth Estates Children’s Home, who was accused of sexually molesting a teenage ward.

The prosecution entered a nolle prosequi in the case against Ray Nairn, formally ending the proceedings against him.

Nairn had faced charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a dependent, attempted unlawful sexual intercourse with a dependent, indecent assault and cruelty to children.

Prosecutors had alleged that Nairn sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl who was under his care in 2024.

He was also accused of providing the teenager with alcohol, causing suffering and injury to her health.

Nairn had been granted bail and was previously scheduled to stand trial on July 6, 2026.

The entry of a nolle prosequi means prosecutors have discontinued the case, but it does not amount to an acquittal.

The reason for the prosecution’s decision has not been provided.
