NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A frightening incident taking place at the Bishop Michael Eldon School in Grand Bahama after a student threatened gun violence.

The threat prompting school officials to ramp up security as students who showed up were greeted by police officers.

Police were out in full force on the Bishop Michael Eldon School campus on Friday morning, searching the bags of every student.

It came after a threat that was found in the high school boys’ bathroom that said: “we’re going to shoot up the school, on March 3rd”

Friday morning, parents could be seen on the campus trying to find out what was happening as some told us they are concerned about their kids’ safety.

School principal Cheryl Wood explaining that the threat was brought to the attention of school officials by a senior student.

Shortly after the discovery, the school sent out a very detailed email to parents explaining the situation and informed them of all of the safety measures the school was putting in place to protect the faculty, staff and students.

Wood says the school does not take the threat lightly and that is why police were called in.

The principal says new strategies will be put in place with the help of police to safeguard the school.
