NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Shades of blue crushed together with hues of pink were used to create a portrait of flamingos lounging in the mangroves during Saturday afternoon’s sip n paint with John Paul in The Current Art Gallery.

As glasses of wine or champagne flowed and paint brushes hit the canvas, each stroke, gave more than a dozen participants a lesson in skills used by the artist.

John Paul – Artist

“We’re using a technique called glazing which is a way of creating sort of like a sparkling transparent effect on top of an opaque effect and it looks like water suppose to look like.”

Glazing may sound difficult, but the intensity level of the class varies.

Some persons were focused on drawing an acute almond shape for the base of their flamingo while others were there for the vibes.

“There were some that were just here to have fun and haven’t done it before and others looked like they’d had some kind of training before, some listened to what I said, others didn’t had their own kind of ideas actually, which was great”
