GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Grand Bahama receiving a major injection into the economy as Solomons Downtown Freeport officially opened its  doors to the public today. It’s a big deal for Grand Bahamians as Downtown, Freeport was once a thriving shopping area for residents but following several major hurricanes, the area had declined. Chairman and Director of AML Foods Ltd. Franklyn Butler says over four million dollars was spent.

The chairman also reflecting on the journey to opening up the downtown location and says it all started after hurricane dorian when he and his team were looking at ways to help restore the economy.

He adds that 90% of the project was worked on by Grand Bahamians and businesses located on that northern island.

Minister for Grand Bahama Ginger Moxey says despite the challenges on the island, Grand Bahama has survived because of resident’s resilience…

And, residents are applauding the move by AML Foods.

Chief Price Inspector of the Consumer Affairs Unit Reno Smith leading the team of inspectors at Solomons ensuring that every item is priced. He too is pleased to witness the resurgence of the downtown community.
