Sources: U.S. Expected to Send Soldiers From 82nd Airborne Division to Middle East

UNITED STATES – The United States is preparing to send thousands of troops from the elite 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, according to two sources familiar with the plan who spoke to Reuters.

The move would mark a major escalation in the four-week-old war involving Iran, even as President Donald Trump continues to signal he’s open to a possible deal with Tehran.

Reuters first reported last week that the administration was considering options that could include deploying U.S. forces inside Iran itself.

Officials say no final decision has been made on that step, but the troops from Fort Bragg would expand U.S. military capacity across the region if the conflict deepens.
