Director of the National HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases Program Dr. Nikkiah Forbes explains what a MONKEYPOX infection may look like.
She says that the rash may begin on the face and spread to other parts of the body.
Similar to Chicken Pox, the rash may appear differently at different stages.
If you suspect you have symptoms of MONKEYPOX, Dr. Forbes suggests seeking medical advice as soon as possible – because it could be MONKEYPOX, or something that looks like MONKEYPOX.
The Bahamas National Reference Lab now has the ability to test for MONKEYPOX in country.
But if you are over a certain age, you may already have some protection against infection.
