ST. KITTS – St. Kitts and Nevis is cracking down on shady dealings in its citizenship by investment program.

The government has revoked the citizenship of 13 people and their families after an investigation revealed they lied about meeting the investment requirements.

The program lets foreigners buy citizenship by investing in the country, but the U.S. and Europe have raised red flags about abuse.

Now the island nation is blacklisting agencies that offered fake “discounts” and cutting ties with companies that didn’t hold up their end of the deal.

Officials say it’s all about protecting the country’s reputation.
