NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Alarming, is how Prime Minister Philip Davis is describing the current crime situation, adding, his government plans to place more emphasis on prevention than detection.

His comments come as police are reporting a 21 percent increase in murders; more than half of the 85 people killed so far this year were out on bail.

When asked about the current state of crime in the country, David described it as, “alarming” saying he does not embrace it.

“We will do all we can to reverse that trend. We will start, not just from active murders that have taken place… more emphasis on prevention rather than detection,” PM Davis says.
