CHINA – Shanghai, China was brought to a standstill by what authorities say was the strongest typhoon to directly hit the Chinese Financial Hub in more than seven decades, with flights, trains and highways suspended during a national holiday.

Bebinca is the 13th typhoon of the year and has been wreaking havoc in shanghai since making landfall around 07:30 am on Monday.

Shanghai’s meteorological observatory upgraded the yellow alert for heavy rain to an orange alert at 11:00am.

China has a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
