UNITED STATES – Superman the movie soared to a $122 million opening weekend in the U.S. and Canada, according box office numbers making it the first DC film to crack $100 million domestically since wonder woman in 2017.

It’s also the first title under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios leadership aiming to reboot a struggling franchise.

Though global numbers were softer at $95 million, and just $6.6 million in China, Superman earned strong reviews with 82% on rotten tomatoes and an A- Cinemascore.

The film faced tough box office competition from Jurassic World Rebirth and Brad Pitt’s F1, but still managed the third-biggest opening of 2025.
