NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The goal is to get solar energy capacity in The Bahamas to 30% of its energy production by 2033.

Energy Minister JoBeth Coleby-Davis confirming good progress towards that goal, with the receipt of several proposals and bids.

These are in response to a request for proposals to install solar energy micro-grids across the islands, for more energy independence.

Solar power currently accounts  for less than one percent of energy generated in here.

In Belize,  around 90 percent of their in-country energy generation is from renewable energy.

The minister tells us over 20 New Providence companies alone have put their hats in the ring.
