NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A day of learning turned into a day of panic for three 9th-grade students at a popular public junior high school after they ingested marijuana and passed out about midday on Monday.

An ambulance was called and the teens were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Our news can confirm the young men were students of S.C. Mcpherson Junior High School.

We reached out to education officials for comment but got no response.

But we did get a chance to speak to the president of the Bahamas Union of Teachers Belinda Wilson. She says these incidents are becoming too frequent.

She is calling on education officials to put in place stricter measures to monitor students, like drug testing.

She also says parents should also play closer attention to their kids.
