Team Bahamas Blows Out Cuba 109-68

ARGENTINA – The Bahamas National Basketball team ran through Cuba 109 to 68 in their opening game of the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament Monday night.

ARGENTINA – The Bahamas National Basketball team ran through Cuba 109 to 68 in their opening game of the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament Monday night.

The NBA players led the way for team 242. Buddy Hield had 24 points adding, six rebounds and five assists. DeAndre Ayton dominated the inside with 22 points and 10 rebounds and Eric Gordon had 17 points and four assists. Franco Miller added 18 off the bench. 

Meanwhile, Head Coach of Ole Miss’ Women’s Basketball team and Grand Bahama native Yolett McCuin says our current men’s national basketball team has potential to do well.

Coach Yo served as an assistant coach of the team last year but due to a prior commitment had to rescind.

The team – currently in Argentina – consists of the likes of Buddy Hield, DeAndre Ayton, Eric Gordon – and is ranked number one in the tournament’s power rankings.

Baseball

And finally, The Bahamas Baseball Federation has announced the suspension of Greg Burrows Jr. and Greg Burrows Sr. due to an altercation at last month’s Babe Ruth regional tournament. 

Burrows jr., the manager of The Bahamas’ U-16 squad was given a hefty 15-year suspension for berating, then initiating a physical altercation with an umpire after he was ejected for his initial outbursts. Burrows Sr., the Caribbean Commissioner for Babe Ruth Baseball was given a five-year suspension.

Babe Ruth Baseball has issued a statement of support for burrows senior noting that he will remain regional commissioner for the foreseeable future.
