NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – We now know who will make up the 36-member team headed to represent The Bahamas at the CARIFTA games in Martinique this year.

But, not before some impressive swims at the Last Chance Meet at the Betty Kelly Kenning Aquatics Center yesterday.

As the name suggests, the 2-day meet was the last chance for swimmers to have an opportunity to make the national team who will travel over the Easter holiday weekend.

Here are some of the top prospects who will be representing the country in Martinique.

Also on hand for the Last Chance Meet was olympian Joanna Evans.

Evans swam for the first time competitively in four years, participating in both the 200m and 400m freestyle.

I asked her what it was like to get back in the pool as well as her opinion on the future of swimming in The Bahamas.

Baseball

Great Britain’s bats fell silent in the team’s 9-1 loss to the USA on Saturday night.

The Bahamian contingent went hit-less in the game, with all five Bahamians in the starting lineup going a combined 0-15.

Nate Eaton scored on the lone run for Great Britain, slicing a solo home run off reigning American League Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal to right field in the first inning to give the illusion that this would be a game.

It wouldn’t.

The USA had a 5-run 5th inning, punctuated by a Kyle Schwarber home run and never looked back.

Clay Holmes got the win on the mound.

The loss was team Great Britain’s 2nd in two days in the WBC.
