Teen Arraigned for German Man’s Murder in Andros

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An 18-year-old resident of Kemps Bay, Andros has been arraigned with the murder and attempted murder of two German men who lived on the island.

Prosecutors said Derran Smith fatally shot Torsten Hendricks and wounded Hugo Hendricks during a November 2 shooting at their summer residence in Johnson’s Bay, Andros.

Police said the men were outside their home when a lone gunman approached.

The men ran inside and were followed by the gunman who shot them.

Smith was unrepresented when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on charges of murder and attempted murder.

He did not enter a plea to the charges and was denied bail.

His willl return to court date on March 28, 2023.
